junior spring semester = 6 films sound designed, 4 ski races traveled to, too many avid crashes, & 57754 years off my life. this week marks a year since i changed my emphasis from editing to sound design & i have no regrets!!! i feel like ive literally been learning something new every single day!!! senior year next HERE WE COME

ak vs. junior year fall (alt title: ak remembers instagram)

over my winter break, i had the privilege to spend just about every moment i could skiing and gate training.

including:
-1 week in breckenridge, co for an adaptive race training camp
-a month at home (palisades tahoe) training with my home team
-2 weeks training with the national ability center’s high performance team in park city, ut
-AND my first fis race as a sit skier - where i managed a 4th place finish in slalom + a 6th in gs (…we’re gonna ignore the other dsq2 in sl and dnf1 in gs lol)

it’s been a lot. i’ve essentially reverted back to my U12 self, which, doesn’t exactly feel great a lot of the time. it’s so easy to fall into the hole of comparing myself to the racer i used to be just a few years ago.

but it’s also kinda been magical. it’s like getting to rewatch your favorite movie for the first time twice. not a lot of people have the opportunity to experience falling in love with their sport for a second time.

the intense deja vu of hitting the same milestones i hit as a kid is kind of unmatched. and the feeling hitting me that im doing something i thought was lost forever is enough to make it all worth it.

thank you again to everyone who helped make all this possible. thank you to @drinkbubblr @thehartford @moveunitedsport @victoriasvictoryfoundation @gohawkeyefoundation @nationalabilitycenter and to the individuals who supported my campaign to get this rig. you guys changed my life.

to go from thinking i would never be able to get back to gates to realizing i can take adaptive racing to a level i was never going to reach as a stand up racer is amazing. i can’t wait to see where this all takes me.
